DERV is another name for white diesel. This fuel is commonly used in the industrial and commercial industries in cars, vans, trucks, trains and HGVs. It is also known as road diesel, diesel, forecourt diesel or ultra-low sulphur diesel (ULSD).
DERV stands for Diesel Engine Road Vehicle. This term is used to differentiate between white diesel and red diesel, also known as Gas Oil. Gas Oil is subject to a lower tax rate and can only be used in off-road vehicles, generators and certain heating appliances
Yes - however, you must have suitable and safe storage in line with storage regulations. An RDCO form will need to be completed. The safest way to store DERV is a bunded tank clear of debris and sheltered from the elements. You can safely store DERV for up to six months, and it can be stored for up to twelve months if the correct additives are used to prevent the growth of micro-organisms in the fuel.
A small amount of spilled DERV can cleaned up easily, but the fumes can be toxic so it should be handled with care. Larger amounts will require professional assistance to prevent any damage to the environment. Call our team on 016974 76575 should you require advice on a fuel spillage.
